Out Now ! 28mm ACW Hard plastic Infantry 36 figures. Code ACW 1. Price £12

After years of contemplation and consideration we’ve taken the plunge into plastic figures.
These will be 28mm Hard Plastic miniatures which will complement our metal ranges in scale and detail. The first releases will be an American Civil War Infantry box and a supporting Cavalry box. The Infantry box will contain 36 figures, half marching, half firing line and will include a command. The Cavalry will include 12 mounted figures including command. The horses are two parts (with an integral base), 4 different riders with separate right arms, hats and carbines. You’ll have option of over 5000 variants with the cavalry.
Both these boxes are intended for use for Union and Confederate forces as the headgear is separate allowing the customer to customise their armies accordingly. This means there’ll be 36 forage caps and 36 slouch hats for the infantry and 12 of each for the cavalry. We will be releasing a metal range of ACW to run along with these boxes. Our friend Peter Dennis has done the cover art for the boxes. As well as the figures we’re including simple introductory rules and printed flags.
Plastic tooling is a very expensive and a long drawn out process, so please don’t expect plastics for all our ranges. Generally (but not always) the plastics will be a part of some new metal ranges where appropriate. People have been asking about Crusades and Samurai in plastic. Unfortunately mail armoured troops are a nightmare to tool convincingly in plastic as you always end up with the mail losing it’s detail at the sides of the body. Likewise the lace detail would disappear at the sides leaving a poor finish. Not impossible, but not on the list (yes , there is a secret list) yet.
The picture of the plasticine pressing is to show that there is no reduction in detail from the master green (which is made three times bigger). This is a test pressing from the one of the finished cavities of the steel mould, although the final plastics will be even crisper. The metal figure is there purely for size comparison.
Contrary to rumours this is purely a Perry Miniatures venture and not backed or in conjunction with anyone else. |
